Who it’s for

You love food and you love to cook in a busy environment where you’re always on your feet and moving. You have a keen sense of taste and smell, and you love to keep things clean and organized. You take direction well and work well with others.

What you’ll learn

You will learn Level 1 Apprenticeship cooking/baking principles and techniques in a production kitchen. You’ll be able to prepare many basic recipes as you learn knife skills, food and workplace safety, kitchen multitasking, communication, and teamwork.

Your career

Dining out is a part of life for many people—whether in restaurants, take out or delivery—so this is generally a high-demand industry with employment opportunities everywhere.

You will be able to find work in restaurants, food service, hotels, banquets and catering, or start and run your own business. And, with Level 1 Apprenticeship accreditation, you’ll be set on a course to earn your Red Seal designation.

You meet the English language requirements, if you: Are from an English Language Proficiency requirement exempted country, OR you meet one of our waiver requirements.
