You like to use your hands and enjoy the satisfaction of building something from scratch. You’re interested in tools, electrical equipment, safety, and efficiency. You’re self-motivated, accountable, and hard working.
What you’ll learn
You will graduate with the basic skills required for carpentry—from using building tools to interpreting blueprints and designing circuits, to understanding safety requirements and basic building methods. At the end of five months, you’ll be able to start work as a builder.

Your career
You’ll enter the workforce as an entry-level carpenter, but with time and experience you can branch out to wherever your building ambitions and interests take you. This program, which leads you towards Level 1 apprenticeship accreditation and starts you on the path towards Red Seal, requires only a short period of study.
Carpentry is a rewarding trade, but supply is short with not enough new builders to replace those who are retiring. There are many entry level building jobs. You can progress into a supervisory or project management role, or start your own company.
