Industrial Mechanic/Millwright

Who it’s for

You like using your hands and your mind. You love taking things apart to see how they work, have good mechanical aptitude, and are great at problem-solving on the fly. You are also a strong team player who can remember and follow instructions.

What you’ll learn

With no prior experience, you will learn the correct tools for the job and the skills you need to work safely under the direction of a Red Seal millwright. You’ll have the background knowledge of bolts, bearings, and tools you need to work in the industry.

Your career

A millwright was a carpenter in the windmill era. The trade progressed into working with metal gears, pulleys, and belts. You’ll graduate with the knowledge and skills to install, maintain, and keep in alignment gears ranging from 1 cm to 10 ft in diameter.

This is a lucrative career where you can work in any industry where there are moving mechanical parts. This program leads you towards Level 1 Apprenticeship accreditation, which in turn leads to many career opportunities.

  • Manitoba high school diploma
